(ConservativeFreePress.com) – Senator Joe Manchin reveals he may re-register as a Democrat to allow him to run for president.

Manchin (I-W.Va.) confirmed to Fox News’s Bret Baier that he would consider re-registering as a Democrat and running for president, even if it was to discuss bringing the Democratic Party “back to the center.”

Earlier on Sunday, Manchin had called for President Joe Biden to withdraw from the race, saying in an appearance on ABC News’ “This Week,” that he had a “heavy heart” acknowledging that Biden “pass the torch to a new generation.”

Earlier this year, Manchin switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Independent despite caucusing with Democrats in the Senate.

In the weeks after Biden’s dismal debate performance, Manchin expressed his beliefs that Biden “needed time to evaluate and make a decision,” if he would withdraw from the race.

He also noted that Democratic Senators in competitive races feared Biden’s re-election bid might ruin their chances.

Privately, Manchin had expressed concerns to Biden’s allies, Senator Chris Coons (Delaware) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (New York), in the days after the first Presidential debate. He didn’t make those concerns public; instead, choosing to cancel his appearances on Sunday shows.

According to reports, Manchin’s decision not to speak out publicly was intended to give Biden time to decide on a course of action; however, he shifted course with his appearance on “This Week.”

Manchin has been full of surprises this year. In May, as reports circled that moderate Republicans in West Virginia had encouraged him to run for Governor, as they were dissatisfied with the GOP’s pick, Manchin switched his affiliation to Independent.
