(ConservativeFreePress.com) – On Monday night, President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign resumed its presidential campaign activities which had been halted following Saturday’s assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump during a rally.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) also picked back up its activities as this week is the start of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. In order to counterprogram the RNC the Democrats have organized a number of activities.
On Monday, the activities began with President Biden appearing in a prime-time interview with NBC’s Lester Holt. The official has noted that following this interview which was set to take place on Monday evening, both the Biden campaign and the DNC will be working to establish the contrast between the vision of the future that could be created if Biden is reelected in office, versus the way that the future would look if Trump and the Republicans manage to win back the White House and Congress. As the Democrats have argued, if the GOP wins they will push their backward-looking agenda forward.
Following the assassination attempt, the Biden campaign had opted to halt all of its communications, including television ads on Saturday. Later on Saturday evening, Biden and Trump had a discussion, which was noted from both sides as having been good. Biden was then scheduled to put out remarks from the Oval Office on Sunday.
Both the President and former President have been pushing for unity following the assassination attempt.
