(ConservativeFreePress.com) – Biden’s first televised debate performance against Trump was dismal, even worrying Democrats.
Thursday’s debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, which aired on CNN, displayed the contrast in skill and ability among the two oldest presidential candidates.
Biden gave a shaky — at best — performance. Trump gave a confident performance. The difference was staggering.
The two men traded barbs on immigration, abortion, the economy, and the Ukraine and Gaza wars. At one point, they also insulted each other’s golf games.
Biden, who sounded hoarse — something his campaign blames on a cold — stumbled over his words throughout the debate, at one point prompting Trump to reveal he didn’t “know what [Biden] said at the end of that sentence,” and questioned whether the President knew what he was saying.
Describing Trump as a “felon,” Biden attempted to attack the former President for his recent conviction in the hush money case in New York. But, Trump quickly highlighted Biden’s embattled son, Hunter Biden’s, conviction for lying about his drug abuse to purchase a gun.
Trump unleashed several criticisms against Biden during the debate, suggesting Biden’s border policies had resulted in a crime wave, that the President supported infanticide, and wouldn’t support any limits on abortion.
When Trump described the migrant crisis, which he asserted ushered in scores of criminals, the “Biden crime wave,” Biden’s only retort was, “Once again, he’s exaggerating, he’s lying.”
When Biden blamed Trump for dismantling the nationwide protections to abortion access, Trump hit back by suggesting Biden would support late-term abortions, up to eight and nine months, and explained that returning the law to the states was the right move.
At one point, the men traded barbs on their swing. Biden suggested Trump couldn’t carry his bag, and Trump noted he had a better swing of the two.
However, by the end of the 90-minute debate, Biden’s performance had concerned Democrats. Voters are concerned the President doesn’t have the aptitude to fulfill his role as President; fears his debate performance didn’t reduce.
Julián Castro, a cabinet member in the Obama administration, noted “Biden had a very low bar going into the debate and failed to clear even that bar.”
