(ConservativeFreePress.com) – Jack Black and his band, Tenacious D, have been slammed for a joke a bandmate made hours after the attempted assassination of Trump.
On Sunday, during a concert performance, Black asked fellow actor and bandmate Kyle Gass to “make a wish” after wishing him “Happy Birthday,” to which Gass responded, “Don’t miss Trump next time.”
Gass’s comments, which elicited laughs and applause from the crowd, came mere hours after a bullet narrowly missed former President Donald Trump at his Saturday rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The gunman killed one attendee and wounded two others before law enforcement fatally shot him.
When video footage of Gass’s comments was posted to X by Greg Price, director of Communications for the State Freedom Caucus Network Communications, it received over 4,000 retweets and more than 1,000 comments. Most of those comments criticized Gass for the dark joke.
X and Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote “contemptible” beneath the post.
Robby Starbuck, a filmmaker, noted how Jack Black laughed “when his friend makes a birthday wish,” asking the shooter not to “miss Trump next time,” despite being a “guest of honor and speaker” at President Joe Biden’s “Hollywood fundraiser.”
Starbuck suggested “Biden supporters” were “inciting another” assassination attempt on Trump, describing their actions as “Evil and sick.”
Chris Loesch, a conservative activist, responded to the clip by mentioning his love for Tenacious D and that he believed “Jack Black was funny,” however, following Sunday’s remarks, he wouldn’t be playing their movies or music in his house.
Tenacious D has yet to publicly comment on the remarks.
