(ConservativeFreePress.com) – First Lady Jill Biden recently reaffirmed her support for her husband in light of his recent debate performance, emphasizing that the debate would not overshadow President Biden’s accomplishments over the past four years.
Speaking to Vogue on Sunday, Jill Biden expressed determination not to let the debate be the defining moment of her husband’s presidency. “We will not let those 90 minutes define the four years he’s been president,” she told the magazine. “We will continue to fight,” she added, asserting that President Biden “will always do what’s best for the country.”
Jill Biden’s comments were part of her feature in Vogue Magazine’s August issue. The interview was conducted by phone on June 30 during a family gathering at Camp David, a visit that had been scheduled previously.
The discussion follows a period of heightened scrutiny of the president’s debate performance, where he seemed to struggle with some responses and made several misstatements. This led to concerns among some Democrats about his candidacy and prompted calls from several national newspapers for him to not seek re-election.
Despite this, the Biden campaign and the White House have firmly stated that President Biden will continue his reelection campaign. They also highlighted that the campaign had successfully raised over $33 million in the 72 hours following the debate.
Addressing voters in Raleigh, North Carolina, after the debate, President Biden acknowledged some physical and rhetorical challenges he faces. “Folks, I don’t walk as easy as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to,” he admitted during a campaign rally.
He continued, “But I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth, I know right from wrong, and I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done. And I know what millions of Americans know: When you get knocked down, you get back up.”
