Republican Lawmakers Unleash Fury
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell didn’t mince words when he declared, “The plea deal with terrorists – including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks that killed thousands of Americans – is a revolting abdication of the government’s responsibility to defend America and provide justice.”
New York lawmakers, particularly those representing districts deeply affected by the 9/11 attacks, have been vocal in their opposition. Rep. Nicole Malliotakis stated, “Any plea deal with the terrorists responsible for killing thousands of Americans, including so many of my constituents, is unacceptable. We owe it to the victims, their families and those 9/11 heroes who continue to suffer and die from related illnesses to pursue the death penalty.”
White House Attempts to Distance Biden

Families of 9/11 Victims Express Dismay
Terry Strada, whose husband died in the World Trade Center, expressed her disappointment: “They were cowards when they planned the attack, and they’re cowards today.”
The plea deal has reopened wounds for many families who have waited over two decades for justice.
