(ConservativeFreePress.com) – Pelosi defended Biden’s debate performance, instead suggesting Trump was the one with “dementia.”

In an appearance on CNN on Sunday, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defended President Joe Biden’s debate performance, suggesting her “people” support Biden-Harris and consider the debates “an opportunity for [the President] to go out there and show he has stamina.”

Pelosi made the remarks in response to a question by CNN host Dana Bash about whether any part of her felt Biden should step aside.

The former House Speaker then pivoted to discussing former President Donald Trump, suggesting that although the press was fixated on Biden, some “health care professionals… think that Trump has dementia,” claiming that the former President’s “thoughts do not go together,” and accusing him of not only lying but not knowing the truth.

She noted that if the conversation revolved around “mental acuity, let’s be fair about it.”

Pelosi continued her defense of Biden, explaining that lawmakers who interact with Biden “up close” know that the President is “attuned… to the issues” facing Americans.

She added that she frequently debates Biden on issues before correcting her statement and saying she discusses issues with him, which displayed his cognitive ability.

Pelosi went on to say she wouldn’t “sugarcoat that” the debate “was a bad night” for Biden.

The former House Speaker, claiming Biden had a “great presidency,” began listing his accomplishments, prompting host Bash to note Pelosi had made the “argument for Joe Biden’s reelection” in a way the President hadn’t, before querying if Democrats had something in place if Biden wanted to step aside. Pelosi noted there wasn’t anything better than Biden “getting up and taking the ball over the finish line,” explaining that anything beyond that “could be chaotic.”
