(ConservativeFreePress.com0 – Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was reportedly recently asked about the increased calls for President Joe Biden to step aside following his weak performance in the presidential debate against former President Donald Trump.
Regarding the calls to have Biden step aside so that a new candidate could emerge, she argued that she did not know who was pushing for that but she would not be. On Saturday, anchor Ali Velshi played an audio clip from Pelosi’s statement on her show. In the clip, Pelosi argued she is “not doing it.”
The first debate, where Biden appeared to stumble over his words and have a raspy voice, resulted in many Republican party members questioning whether he continues to be the best option for the top of the presidential ticket. Many Democratic figures, including people who had previously worked with former President Barack Obama, have expressed their opinion about how they believe the debate between Biden and former President Donald Trump had gone on Thursday night.
Jon Favreau, who is the co-host of “Pod Save America” and had been a speechwriter during the Obama administration, argued that the “debate was a f‑‑‑ing disaster.” In his post on X, he continued by arguing that the Democrats needed to defeat Trump and they needed to have a nominee in place who is capable of doing that.
David Axelrod, a former Obama senior adviser who still works as a Democratic strategist, argued that the debate had left the Democratic party rattled. He continued by pointing out that there was a sense of shock over how he had come out during the start of the presidential debate and how his voice had sounded. He also referred to the concerns regarding Biden’s overall performance as he appeared disoriented at the start, but argued that as the debate continued Biden appeared stronger.
Axelrod argued that following this performance there would be discussions on whether or not Biden should continue but that he does not believe such discussions would lead to any results.
