(ConservativeFreePress.com) – On Monday Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) brought forward a new bill that would prohibit the use of federal funds to cover the salary or expenses of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.
This latest bill comes at a time when many lawmakers have slammed the Secret Service following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Boebert in her explanation of the bill argued that it was possible that the incident had been “intentional” however she failed to provide any evidence for this. She continued to note that the incident was the result of the “gross incompetence” of the Secret Service which was more focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.
In a statement along with the announcement of the bill, Boebert argued that it was due to Cheatle’s failed leadership that the Secret Service had prioritized Dei rather than its responsibilities which included protecting the leaders of the nation. She added that it was due to this lack of leadership that they had seen the first assassination attempt of a U.S. president in over four decades. She then pushed that Cheatle needed “to go.”
The bill is co-sponsored by eight other House lawmakers, Reps. Andy Ogles (Tenn.), Barry Moore (Ala.), Bill Posey (Fla.), Cory Mills (Fla.), Diana Harshbarger (Tenn.), Jeff Duncan (S.C.), Josh Brecheen (Okla.), and Tim Burchett (Tenn.).
On Monday during an interview with ABC News, Cheatle stated that the Secret Service did bear responsibility for any security lapses that resulted in the shooting and that they were currently performing a review and providing the necessary resources to their personnel.
