(ConservativeFreePress.com) – Former President Donald Trump’s allies have praised the federal judge who dismissed the classified documents mishandling case against Trump. The recent ruling by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon came only a few days after the assassination attempt against the former President and on the first day of the Republican National Convention.
On Monday Cannon, who is a Trump appointee, ruled that special counsel Jack Smith had been unconstitutionally appointed to handle the case. Therefore she dismissed the classified documents case, which is one of the two federal cases that Trump is facing felony charges on.
Republicans took to social media to praise this decision.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to post a photo of the judge along with the message “Future Supreme Court Justice Cannon.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who is another close Trump ally noted that this decision was a major blow to the Department of Justice and Smith, and alleged that the Democrats were going after every person who had opposed their agenda.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R), who was believed to be one of the three contenders for Trump’s vice-presidential pick also took to X to write “Dismissed!”
The decision came on the first day of the Republican National Convention where Trump was officially announced as the party’s nominee. Trump attended the convention which took place only two days after the assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania. During the incident, a bullet grazed his ear before he was rushed off stage by the Secret Service. The suspected shooter was killed on the scene, while another attendee also lost his life and two others were critically injured.
