Will Republicans Lose Control of the House?

(ConservativeFreePress.com) – On Tuesday, Decision Desk HQ released a new forecast in which it was shown that the GOP has a two-thirds chance of maintaining their House majority in the upcoming election. This is a warning sign for the Democrats who are attempting to deal with the concerns regarding President Joe Biden’s viability as a presidential candidate and the impact of his running on the down-ballot.

In the forecast, it was noted that the Republicans had increased their chances of winning by 1 percentage point this week, with the current odds showing that the Republicans are considered the most likely winners in 11 out of the 16 toss-up races. The forecast was released only two weeks after Biden’s lackluster performance in the first presidential debate. This has resulted in even more concerns about the Democrats being possibly unable to win the House and maintain their control of the House and the White House.

DDHQ director of data science Scott Tranter argued that around six to seven months ago the Republicans and former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had faced a disaster, and there was a lot of turmoil. He added that the generic ballot for the GOP has been unusually good in an election year, this has also trickled in some House races.

Tranter pointed out that “atmospherics” are particularly important during presidential years in the House races, and argued that some of this is also the result of Biden’s debate performance. Still, he argued that the early data is good for the Republicans. The Decision Desk HQ forecast has noted that Trump has a 58 percent chance of winning the White House, while the GOP has an 82 percent chance of flipping the U.S. Senate.
